Becoming a self-employed taxi driver with Lyft

And now, for yet another question – how to become a good self-employed taxi driver for Lyft, with a nice cash income and enough leisure time?

  • Refresh your driving skills with a car instructor. Even if you are a driver with substantial experience, you should clearly understand that in addition to taking responsibility for your life, you automatically assume responsibility for the life of your passengers as well. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to pass repeated classes with a car instructor, or at least a practical test for the level of driving. Thus, you can make sure that you are ready for passenger traffic and that you will not put anyone’s health or life at risk;
  • If possible, get a car from a trusted manufacturer. Starting to work for Lyft, you will use your car much more often than before, so it is extremely important to make sure that it is predisposed to regular performance. For this reason, it is recommended to purchase a car that was released in 2004 at the most, from well-known and, preferably, not very budget brands (because, as you know, too low a price for a car is usually due to their insufficiently high results on crash tests);
  • Start optimizing your expenses & taking revenue into account. And finally, you should closely deal with the organization of your income and expenses, so as not to accidentally go into the red. From this point of view, it makes sense to install a special app on the smartphone for recording incoming and outgoing financial flows.
